Optical windows are flat optical components designed to transmit light across a defined wavelength range while protecting the internal optical system from contamination, pressure or environmental exposure. What materials are available for optical windows?

Chenyu Optics produces optical windows in sapphire, fused silica (JGS1, JGS2, JGS3, Corning), calcium fluoride (CaF₂), barium fluoride (BaF₂), zinc selenide (ZnSe), zinc sulfide (ZnS), germanium (Ge) and silicon (Si). The available materials span wavelengths from 0.15 μm (deep UV) to 16 μm (LWIR).

Can you manufacture custom optical windows?

Yes. Chenyu Optics manufactures optical windows to customer drawings. Dimensions, shape, thickness tolerance, surface quality, flatness, parallelism, chamfer, clear aperture and coating can all be specified. Round, square, rectangular and non-standard geometries are supported, from prototype quantities to repeat OEM orders.

What coating options are available?

Standard coatings include UV AR, visible AR, NIR AR, broadband AR (BBAR), IR AR, laser-line AR (266 nm, 355 nm, 532 nm, 1064 nm, 10.6 μm), high-reflection and DLC coatings. Uncoated bare substrate is also available, and custom coating designs can be produced for specific wavelengths or multi-band requirements.

What optical tolerances can you achieve?

Thickness tolerances from ±0.1 mm to ±0.02 mm, surface quality from 60-40 scratch-dig to laser-grade 10-5, flatness from λ/2 to λ/10 at 632.8 nm, and parallelism from ≤3 arcmin to ≤10 arcsec, depending on material and application requirements.

Yes. Dimensional, surface quality, flatness, parallelism and coating performance are verified before every shipment. Material certificates and inspection reports are available on request to support incoming quality control on the customer side.
