What is a MgF₂achromatic lens?

A MgF₂ achromatic lens is a type of lens  by gluing together two different materials of glass.

It can significantly reduce chromatic aberration and enable light of various wavelengths to be imaged at the same point.

After a single layer of magnesium fluoride (MgF₂) film is coated on the surface of the lens, it can effectively reduce surface reflection, increase light transmittance, and thereby improve the imaging quality.

Optionally,  people can choose a single-layer MgF2 film or a broadband anti-reflection film.

Hignlights

  • Design the incident angle to be 0°
  • At wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700 nm, the reflectivity of each surface is less than 1.75%
  • In addition, the achromatic coating for visible light at 0° and visible-near-infrared coating can also provide this functionality

Why choose a MgF₂ achromatic lens?

  • Low chromatic aberration design:

The achromatic prism is mainly made by gluing two pieces of different glass together.

  • MgF₂ anti-reflective coating:

A single-layer magnesium fluoride coating can reduce the reflectivity within the visible light range of 400nm to 700nm.

  • High light transmittance:

Compared to uncoated lenses, this lens has a higher light transmission efficiency.

  • Clear imaging:

Suitable for Industrial inspection and high-end photography equipment or other applications.

  • High cost-effectiveness:

Compared to multi-layer coated lenses, it has a lower cost while still maintaining excellent performance.
