Overview

Quartz optical windows are flat, plane-parallel components used to protect sensors, laser optics, instruments and internal optical assemblies while maintaining high optical transmission. They are commonly selected for UV systems, spectroscopy, laser equipment, semiconductor processing and industrial inspection systems.

Compared with ordinary optical glass, fused silica offers excellent UV transmission, low thermal expansion and good chemical stability. Chenyu Optics provides custom quartz windows with controlled surface quality, flatness, parallelism, chamfers and coating options according to customer drawings.

FAQ

What is the difference between quartz and fused silica optical windows?

Fused silica is a high-purity amorphous silica material commonly selected for UV and precision optical applications. Optical quartz can also be used depending on wavelength range, purity requirements and cost targets.

What transmission range can quartz optical windows cover?

Typical fused silica windows provide useful transmission from about 185 nm to 2.5 μm. Actual performance depends on material grade, thickness, coating and surface quality.

Can quartz windows be used for laser applications?

Yes. Quartz and fused silica windows are widely used in laser systems. For high-power applications, surface quality, coating design and laser damage threshold should be reviewed based on the actual wavelength and power density.

What coating options are available?

Uncoated, UV AR, visible AR, VIS-NIR broadband AR, laser line AR and custom coatings can be provided according to wavelength range and angle of incidence.

Can you manufacture custom shapes and sizes?

Yes. Circular, square, rectangular, wedge and custom-shaped quartz windows can be manufactured according to drawings, including chamfers, edge finishing and tight tolerances.
