What is a ZnSe window?
The ZnSe window is a flat optical window which is made of ZnSe material.
And Zinc selenide (ZnSe) is a yellowish-orange semi-transparent crystal with excellent infrared transmittance and low absorption properties.
People also ust it to protect optical components or the internal structure of lasers, while allowing infrared light to pass through smoothly.
ZnSe is a relatively soft material that scratches easily. Therefore, it is not recommended in harsh environments because its knoop hardness is only 120.
Core highlights of the ZnSe window
-
Wide light transmission range:
0.5 to 22 μm, covering the entire spectrum from visible light to far-infrared.
-
Extremely low absorption rate:
The ZnSe window is especially suitable for the 10.6μm CO₂ laser wavelength band.
-
Visible-infrared compatibility:
Suitable for multi-band application scenarios (such as infrared cameras + lasers)
-
Lightweight structure, resistant to thermal shock:
Due to the inherent properties of zinc selenide, it is highly suitable for use in some high-temperature environments.
Application of the window
Here are the applications of the ZnSe window:
-
Laser system
The window is widely applied in: laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking.
-
Infrared thermal imaging and temperature measurement equipment
ZnSe can pass through the 8-12μm thermal imaging main band, with stable performance and clear imaging.
-
Infrared spectroscopy analysis
-
Infrared sensor and infrared camera
